Roderick A. DeArment is a partner at Covington & Burling LLP and has a broad-based practice handling legislative and regulatory matters for clients in areas including tax, employee benefits, healthcare, labor law, financial services and international trade. Mr. DeArment is Co-Chair of the firm’s Government Affairs Practice. He was listed in the publication, Best Lawyers in America, in the fields of Tax Law and Government Relations law.

DeArment has extensive experience in government serving as Chief Counsel and Staff Director of the Senate Finance Committee, Chief of Staff to Majority Leader Bob Dole and as the Deputy Secretary of Labor in the first President Bush’s administration.

DeArment serves on the Board of the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty and The Textile Museum, where he also serves as Treasurer.

DeArment received his B.A. with honors from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut (Phi Beta Kappa) and his J.D. from the University of Virginia (Order of the Coif, Virginia Law Review Editorial Board).
