Suzanne Boas is president of Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater Atlanta Inc., a non-profit, community service agency. Founded by business and community leaders in 1964, CCCS provides free budget and credit counseling; debt management for individuals and families who are overextended; comprehensive housing counseling; and educational programs on money management, the wise use of credit and consumerism.
Directing CCCS Atlanta since 1992, Ms. Boas has become a national leader and authority on the credit counseling industry. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Fannie Mae National Advisory Council. She is a Trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). She has been a peer reviewer for NFCC’s accrediting agency, the Council on Accreditation. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Active in community education, Ms. Boas serves on the Advisory Board of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University, and previously served on the Board of Visitors of Emory University. She is a founding member of the Georgia Consortium for Personal Literacy, which sponsors the Georgia Saves program.
Prior to joining CCCS, Ms. Boas was Vice President of Credit and Consumer Affairs for Macy’s South in Atlanta for 16 years. Her responsibilities included management of Macy’s South credit, customer service, and systems and procedures departments and representation of Macy’s with consumer affairs agencies and organizations. She also worked in the human resources department of Aetna Life and Casualty Company in Hartford, Connecticut, and in the estate administration department of Bankers Trust Company in New York City.
